If you are the owner of an educational institute and looking forward to utilizing technology for a better learning environment then this blog is for you. Continue reading below to find out about some innovative ways to use technology in education.

Topics Covered

Although there are many ways that technology can help in elevating the standard of education in any institute, a few popular ones are as follows:

  • Multimedia Slideshows
  • Podcasts
  • Virtual Tours
  • Online Class Schedules
  • Virtual Manipulatives
  • Teaching Videos
  • Social Media
  • Feedback

Multimedia Slideshow

Slideshows that only contain text are boring, to say the least. Today, with multimedia slideshows you can teach your students in an interactive manner. Use colorful images, gif files, and short video clips. You can also embed YouTube videos in Microsoft PowerPoint. With a projector, you can completely immerse your students in the learning activity.

Podcasts

Podcasts can be quite a helpful way to boost the learning potential of students. They can greatly aid teachers in making the teaching process more efficient with interviews, motivational content, and courses. You can share the following type of podcasts with your students in the classroom:

  • Researching teaching podcasts
  • Technological podcasts
  • Educational lectures

Virtual Tours

Show and tell is the most effective way of teaching. If you’re telling your students about the Taj Mahal, then why not give them a virtual tour as well? Simply take them on a field trip with the help of a Google Cardboard or show them a documentary on YouTube. You can also dedicate a couple of hours per week to tell your students about certain natural phenomena, historical places, or scientific discoveries. Make sure to use visual aids to enable fun learning!

Online Class Schedules

Today, it is the era of digital transformation so why not train your students to get familiar with technology? Plan your lectures on Google Calendar and ask your students to stay up-to-date. Share the URL with your students and guide them on how to access the calendar. Teach them to be organized, disciplined, and responsible.

Virtual Manipulatives

There’s no doubt that mathematical concepts are pretty hard to understand. However, virtual manipulatives in the form of ten blocks, coins, and blocks come in pretty handy for effective teaching. Simply guide your students to play with these virtual manipulatives and they’ll take it from there. They, themselves, will be able to figure out how to play with these ten blocks, and coins, etc. This will allow them to experience hands-on learning.

Teaching Videos

A great way to use technology in education is by recording lectures and sharing these videos with students. They can easily watch the lessons later on. Furthermore, you can also record presentations, and classroom activities and share them with your students over Google Drive. Sharing videos will allow your students to learn with ease and at their pace. If they face any difficulty, they can watch the lecture again to resolve it before directly approaching you.

Social Media

Another interactive way to make your students learn well is through social media. Many students are present on social media. Take this opportunity to create a group where you can conduct extracurricular activities. You can also share homework, assignments, and classroom activities here. Furthermore, you can also invite your students to discuss anything here.

Feedback

Teachers must encourage their students to provide them feedback every now then. Only then, can the overall learning experience improve. There are many ways that students can provide feedback to their teachers. These modes include video feedback, audio feedback, surveys, and emails. Talk to your students and ask them to share any concerns that they may have. Following this, try to resolve any concerns and teach even more effectively. Be open to feedback and do not take it personally. Remember that you and the students have to work in unison for a great learning experience.
